Billing Statements If there are any questions or concerns about this policy our billing staff is available to discuss it with you. To understand the billing procedure, the patient must be aware that there are two separate bills incurred when a diagnostic surgical procedure is performed.
First Statement The first statement is from us. This statement represents the charges for professional services from the individual physician.
Second Statement The second statement is from the facility, such as UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside Hospital, WPAHS—Forbes Regional Hospital, Digestive Health and Endoscopy Center, or UPMC Monroeville Surgery Center. This statement represents the facility fee charged for the room, equipment, medication, nursing staff, and material supplies.
Lab Fees If the physician takes biopsies or removes polyps there may also be a bill from a pathology lab for processing tissue samples. The labs that we utilize are Caris, LabCorp, West Penn Allegheny Health Systems, and Plus Diagnostics.
Your Payments Payment for services is expected at the time of services unless other arrangements are made. For convenience we accept VISA®, MasterCard®, American Express®, and Discover® cards as well as cash and personal checks.
Insurance We have contracted directly with most health insurance companies to accept their allowances, however if your contract has a deductible or out-of-pocket responsibility then you will be expected to make a payment. We encourage patients to contact the service department of the insurance carrier prior to service to verify their contract obligations. The attached PDF is a listing of the most common insurances accepted. Click here to view the PDF about our insurances accepted.
